What to expect?
Typically, this treatment is an out-patient surgery conducted under local anesthesia.
Most patients return to work the next day and sometimes even the same day. Permanent sutures or absorbable sutures may be used for skin closure, depending on the individual case.
After the treatment, it is best to keep your head elevated to minimize post-surgery swelling, even when you want to sleep. You are also advised to avoid any kind of straining for the first 48 hours.
The wounds need to be kept dry for the first few days following the surgery, your surgeon will also ask you to apply an antiseptic ointment or gently massage the treated area to minimize scar tissue.
Recover
Earlobe repair surgery generally takes 4 – 5 days, and can take longer to heal if sutures need to be removed.
You are advised to follow the post treatment protocol the instructions of your surgeon carefully regarding post-operative care.
